With all the new and exciting social networking tools it’s become more and more apparent for companies to be aware what is being said about them out there in cyber space. Or in this case the two social giants Twitter and Facebook. If you don’t already know, you should. As an employer you should be well aware that most if not all your employees use these popular social tools. You also need to note that your competition is out there using these tools to perhaps throw a few punches your way. In both cases your company’s reputation needs to be protected through proper management and oversight.
Helen A.S. Popkin at MSNBC.com wrote a great article this week discussing this very subject. Read it here.
As I told my own employees recently, don’t lose your job over a few dumb comments on your Twitter page. The sad thing is this type of thing is happening daily within firms just in our region. I have personally heard of firings within firms for negative comments posted on these social tools. Sometimes its just human nature for people to complain a bit about their employer. And that is fine. You just don’t do it for the world to see. Remind your employees to come to you with concerns or complaints about their job. I know it goes on just as much as any employer does. But it’s never too late to remind those who work with you to remain respectful of both their employer and the clients they serve. Common sense to most, but as these tools are showing some people lose all sense of reality at times within cyber space.
What is Online Reputation Management?
Online Reputation Management is an aspect of E-dreamz's Social Media Marketing campaigns. You may feel that if you ignore negative comments online they will go away. Just the opposite is true. If you turn your back you will put yourself at risk that these comments can spread. It is important to interact with the online community to increase positive comments and decrease or minimize negative comments. Make sure that the only voice for your brand online is not negative.
