I pine for the days of Goto.com (later changed name to Overture, later purchased by Yahoo and rebranded as Yahoo Search Marketing). Pay-Per-Click advertising was so simple then. Ad Position and Actual CPC (cost-per-click) were both solely based on your current bid. If you were bidding $1.00, you would appear above the next advertiser paying $0.95 - and you would pay $1.00 for each click on your ad.

I don't personally know a single person who uses the Internet and
doesn't champion Google as their preferred search engine. Yahoo and MSN
have failed time and time again to improve their search engine
technology with hopes to take even a tiny bite of the search engine
market share pie. I am pro-Google as much as anyone, but I am growing
tired of the media treating every move they make as the Second Coming,
while Yahoo, MSN (and even Ask) are continually ripped to shreds for
not being up to snuff...
