Have you ever researched which operating system converts the
most for your website? If you haven't - you should.
Recently I read a story that which involved wine, iPads, and increased sales. This article was about restaurants using iPads to boost Wine purchases with always up to date app. This story made me question if it was the app or the iPad itself creating a higher conversion rate. I would assume both, but what if the user was just using the iPad(or iPhone) to navigate the web and purchase? Is her or she more likely to convert?
To find this answer I started digging into some custom reporting in Analytics. I looked at both per visit value for eCommerce websites and submission conversion rates on Lead Generation websites. Every website no matter what the subject or the method of 'conversion' put the iPad at number one in conversion rate and value. The iPhone often sat in the number two spot, but sometimes fell below Windows and Mac users. When Andriod was shown it took the last position in every report.
These statics actually came as a shock to me. I've been doing Internet Marketing before Mobile ever had a chance. When setting up Adwords Accounts I often turned off "iPhones and other mobile devices with full Internet browsers." In the future I will be leaving this checked until I perform further testing.
Of course testing is key here! If you have a full flash websites I think these stats might be 'slightly' different.
